Niamh Parsons: In My Prime

$16.98

"A diva in her prime…dusky mature vocal chords, beautiful, coaxing musicality and phrasing, and heart slicing emotion." – Irish Times

With the release of her newest album In My Prime (GLCD1203) it is fair to say that Niamh Parsons truly is in her prime. Since the release of Blackbirds and Thrushes (GLCD1197) her star has been steadily in ascendance. The Irish vocalist has had a couple of whirlwind years. She appeared before President Clinton and Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern in Washington D.C. on St Patrick's Day, joined Grammy Award winner Paul Winter in his annual Summer Solstice Concert in New York, and performed on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion when the show broadcast from Dublin.

Recorded in Dublin, In My Prime features Niamh's brilliant accompanist, guitarist Graham Dunne, as well as special guests including accordion sensation Josephine Marsh and fiddler Siobhán Peoples, daughter of the legendary Tommy Peoples. Niamh gathered the dozen very personal songs from singers and writers she admires - Luka Bloom, Jacqui McShee, Andy M. Stewart, Andy Irvine, Frank Harte - and as co-producer, she has arranged them simply or even a cappella. Indeed some of the album's most striking moments are the unaccompanied duets Niamh performs with her sister Anne. In My Prime proves Niamh Parsons to be one of Ireland's most profound interpreters and sensitive practitioners of traditional song.

"Niamh Parsons sings like an angel."

- Chicago Tribune
